Hearing Aids Take the Catwalk: GN Fuses Fashion and Tech in Copenhagen
Young Designers Compete to Transform Hearing Devices into Stylish Accessories
Copenhagen became a runway not just for Scandinavian chic, but for the future of hearing technology. GN Hearing took center stage during the city's fashion week, hosting a unique event called "Hearring" at the iconic Kongens Nytorv square, placing hearing aids firmly in the spotlight of the fashion world.
The event gathered 7 talented young fashion designers from around the globe. Their challenge was clear: shatter traditional perceptions and elevate hearing aids beyond mere medical devices into essential expressions of personal style. Using GN's premium ReSound hearing technology as their canvas, the designers crafted aesthetic and functional concepts that users could wear with pride.
While a jury evaluated entries based on colour, materials, usability, and creative vision, the audience also participated through interactive voting. The grand prize winner was Maren Juul (Denmark) with her "Liquid" concept. Juul's design, featuring a transparent, fluid form, presented the hearing aid like an almost invisible piece of jewellery, while offering customizable colour options to celebrate individuality. This victory earned Juul a promising mentorship program and the chance to see her design prototyped.
Highlighting the event's significance, GN Hearing CEO Peter Karlström stated: "Hearing aids are no longer just about hearing. They should be an extension of your personality and style. With 'Hearring,' we aim to fundamentally change how people with hearing loss express themselves by supporting the boundary-pushing perspectives of young talents. This is the seamless fusion of technology and aesthetics."
This event underscores a growing trend in the hearing aid industry: Design-Led Innovation. Users now demand style alongside performance. GN's striking Copenhagen showcase serves as a clear signal that the future of hearing aids lies in blending technological excellence with fashion sensibility.
